The Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation was formed as a result of the sale of a local non-profit hospital.  The funds that were held by that Foundation were transferred to the GLSHF and the scope of the organization was expanded to include Lee’s Summit and the surrounding areas.

Since that time, the Foundation has been working to set up grant guidelines, grant cycles and to strengthen both our mission and structure to support significant granting in the community.  GLSHF is affiliated with the Eastland Community Foundation, expanding outreach to the entire area and through an affiliation with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, to the entire region.  GLSHF is ready to provide granting opportunities to Lee’s Summit and the surrounding areas and also to begin accepting contributions.

Enhancing the Health and Well Being of the Community.

GLSHF will be working with local not-for-profit organizations to fund projects in the areas of:
 
Research
Education
  Scholarships
  Public Training Program
  Programs in Schools
Clinics for indigent care
Equipment
Services
Others may be approved

The Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation is also committed to ensuring that education in the medical disciplines is available to our residents.  Each year the Foundation will award two to three scholarships to area residents to support their academic studies leading to a career in medicine.

These scholarships which range from $4,000 to $6,000 will support studies in the following areas:

Medical School
Nursing School (leading to an RN license or BSN degree)
Pharmacy School
